Our precious baby girl

Well we found out that our little one is not shy at all. We went in for our ultrasound today and the legs were spread wide open for us to see that we are having a precious little girl! There was definitely no room for error. I have to laugh because I was talking to one of the girls at work today about the sex. She told me-"if it looks like a turtle it's a boy, and if it looks like 2 or 3 white lines it's a girl". I told Kyle about it on our way there, so when the ultrasound tech was done looking at all the organs she proceeded on to ask us if we saw the 3 lines that she was pointing at. It was at this point that Kyle remembered the story I had told him on the way there, where his hopes of having a little boy to play with our nephew Landon and other little friend Phillip were eliminated. I couldn't help but laugh hysterically because everyone we know has been giving him a hard time saying how it's going to be a girl-esp. my parents who called it right when I told them I was pregnant (moreso to get under his skin and give him a hard time because they knew he wanted a boy so badly). Even though his hopes of having a boy are gone now, he's still excited and even more nervous now of what's to come. I don't think he realizes how that little girl will have him wrapped around his finger before he even knows it.

It is such a relief to finally know that it's a girl. We have been debating since we first found out that we were expecting. There are so many different things that you can look at and consider-the chinese calendar, heart rate of the baby, if the mother is carrying high or low (I still don't really know what I am classified as), morning sickness, cravings of salty or sweet foods, etc. According to the Chinese calendar which is apparently 90% correct, we were supposed to have a boy. Mind you this calendar was right for ALL of our friends. My pessimist husband said of course we would be the 10% that it is wrong on. haha. The heart rate was what was conflicting-we had heard both sides-the higher heart rate=boy, lower=girl, and vice versa. Our nephew Landon was around the 150s the whole time and ours was 152 when we went in December. I haven't craved sweets at all and more salty foods which are apparently typical of women pregnant with boys (again going against the "trend"). As you can tell it's quite easy to over-analyze and debate the sex of a baby based on all these crazy things. I'm glad it's over to say the least.

Our appointment went good. I guess I didn't realize everything that they would check and go through with us. They went through all of the major organs, pointing them out, taking pictures and telling us that everything looked great (a huge relief). Kyle was somewhat anxious to ask our doctor about my weight because I hadn't gained a pound and was 18 weeks. He said as long as I'm eating and not throwing what I'm eating then I'm totally fine. That was a relief because even I was wondering. I've been eating like a horse so it's hard to believe that I haven't gained anything.

Now we're on to the fun decisions of thinking of names and choosing baby bedding, designing the nursery, etc. I'm sure I'm really in trouble now.
